Nature
The Chřiby Hills around Osvětimany consist of resistant sandstone and feature numerous peaks, rock formations and ridges. The distinctive formations include the Osvětimanské skály. They consist of several rock blocks and are called Čertovky by local residents. A well-trodden footpath through mature trees leads to the Osvětimanské skály. From the flat summit of Zikmundova skála, there is a view across a large part of the Chřiby Hills.
Culture
Above Osvětimany stands the Baroque Church of St. Gall, a historic landmark more than 300 years old. The church contains a twelve-stop organ built by organ maker Karel Neusser in 1889. Local traditions also have a clear seasonal connection: the traditional havelské hody s právem takes place in Osvětimany every year in the first half of October. At the Hody in Osvětimany, the brass band Nedakoňanka accompanied both the procession and the evening dance event.
The historical costume of Osvětimany was classified among the podhorácký costumes and has not survived to the present day. The Hradisko sv. Klimenta site is also located in the surroundings of Osvětimany. This Great Moravian historical site is associated with Cyril and Methodius and is freely accessible year-round.
