Vlčnov: Jízda králů and Wine-Growing Culture

At the Muzeum lidových pálenic, a permanent exhibition presents the home production of spirits in the Moravian-Slovak border region. Another local museum is the Slovácká jizba, located in an old estate in the town centre below the church in Vlčnov. During the Jízda králů and the traditional Christmas celebrations in Vlčnov, this museum comes alive.

Rolnický dům čp. 57 preserves a valuable Slovácké farmhouse in its original setting. The Vlčnovské búdy provide another distinctive feature: they form the largest protected heritage settlement of above-ground wine-growing buildings in the Czech Republic and comprise 40 buildings. The first written mention of these buildings dates from 1544. As above-ground wine-growing buildings, they consist of two rooms: wine was pressed and tasted in one, while it was stored in the other.

Koupaliště Vlčnov has a swimming pool for adults with a depth of up to 180 centimetres, as well as a children’s pool.

Cycle Route 5052 runs through Vlčnov towards Velká Javořina. For a shorter route through the village, there is the Malý okruh, an approximately half-hour village walking circuit. The Velký okruh continues from Rybáře Street towards the vineyards and takes about an hour.

The 45-kilometre Uherskohradišťská Wine Trail also passes through Vlčnov. Its route runs from Uherské Hradiště via Ostrožská Nová Ves and Vlčnov back to Uherské Hradiště.
