Nature

The Choryňská stráž protected area comprises meadows with thermophilic elements of the fauna and flora, where specially protected species occur. Choryně also has significant palaeontological sites with shells of aquatic animals and even fish imprints.

Getting Around

A marked cycle route from Valašské Meziříčí to Kelč runs through Choryně. The nearest railway station to Choryně is Lhotka nad Bečvou, 2 km away.

History

Choryně Château was converted from a fortress and acquired its present appearance at the beginning of the 19th century under Jan Forgáč. In 1882, a convent of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross was established in the former château of the Lords of Choryně.
