Pržno lies in the valley of the Vsetínská Bečva.

Culture and History

The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is the center of the Roman Catholic parish in Pržno. Its foundation stone was laid in 1886, and construction was completed in October 1889. It was built in 1889 on the site of a demolished church, originally Gothic, dating from 1525.

The history of the Evangelical church is also associated with specific construction phases: the foundation stone of the neo-Gothic Evangelical church in Pržno was laid on July 5, 1866; it still serves its original purpose today. Before that, in 1783, the Evangelical congregation had built a small wooden place of worship, which was used until 1866. The congregation in Pržno is one of five congregations in the Czech Republic that preserve a sung Lutheran liturgical tradition.

Toward the end of the 20th century, some residents of Pržno made baskets from willow branches. Křiváky were also still made there in home workshops, along with wooden tools.

Landscape and Village Character

A commemorative lime tree stands in the village square in front of the Catholic church; it is at least 300 years old.

The mountains of Lysný [Janová], Kopřivná, Cáb, and Kelčský Javorník are located in the area around Pržno.
