The bell tower of Machová stands in the centre of the village. Its present appearance is the result of a reconstruction: in 1994, the former bell tower was demolished and rebuilt as a replica of the original structure. The history of the village can be traced back to 1397 in written sources; at that time, Machová was known as Machova lhota.

Culture and Local History

The statue of the Virgin Mary stands on the cadastral boundary between Machová and Mysločovice, on the road connecting the two municipalities. It was acquired in 1888. The Na Kopci cross dates from 1924. Traditional customs also include Machovské klapotání, a local Easter tradition that continues to this day. During Chození s Májkem, girls went from house to house singing the traditional song “Stála panenka Maria jako růžička červená”. Local speech also has its own distinctive character: the so-called Eastern Hanakian dialect is spoken in Machová. In February, a Masopust procession led by a bear took place in Machová.

Paths and Landscape

The field paths in Machová are intended for walks and cycling trips. Wooden signs bearing the names of the respective tree species stand along these paths. One of the field-path routes also features the nature game Piškvorky. A special stop is the Bořínek relaxation zone, where two loungers offer views of Machová and the surrounding landscape.

Sports and the Annual Calendar

Machová’s sports area includes a skate park. The sports area also has courts for tennis, nohejbal and volleyball. Every March, a sausage tasting takes place in Machová. Each autumn, there is an exhibition of home-grown fruit and vegetables.

Those considering Machová as a travel destination can initially compare hotel and holiday-home offers without inferring a specific offer from the appearance of the village. Before booking, it is worth taking a sober look at the individual offer pages: What exact location is specified, what type of accommodation is offered and for what occupancy does the price apply? The included services, individual price components, and booking and cancellation conditions should likewise be clearly identifiable. The specific prices and conditions stated for each offer remain decisive, so that the terms of the selected offer can be assessed objectively. The stated price should refer to the same occupancy, so that different prices are not compared solely because of a differing number of guests or scope of services. Payment deadlines and possible additional costs also merit separate consideration if they are stated on the offer page. For a fair comparison, the same travel period and the same length of stay should also be used, provided these details are visible on the respective offer page. This keeps differences in price, scope of services and conditions readable as separate, concrete characteristics of the offer and prevents them from being prematurely attributed to the location.
