Hotels in Pozlovice: Dam, Educational Trails and Cultural Monuments
Pozlovice lies on the southern edge of the Vizovická vrchovina highlands and on the border of the Bílé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area. The Luhačovická Dam was built on the Šťávnice River in Pozlovice at the beginning of the 20th century. Today, it is used for sports, recreation and fishing. As a result, the area in and around the town brings together bodies of water, landscapes, paths and a remarkable concentration of historic architectural and cultural monuments.
Water, Paths and Exercise
During the summer months, the Duha outdoor swimming pool offers opportunities for swimming and relaxation. The pool complex includes a pool with water attractions, a children’s playground and catering facilities. Around the Luhačovická Dam, the Stezka zdraví fitness trail has around ten outdoor training stations. The trail also includes play equipment for children aged three to twelve.
Several educational trails explore the landscape and its history. The Antonína Václavíka Educational Trail begins in the centre of Pozlovice next to the music pavilion, passes the Church of St Martin and the immovable cultural monument Niva, and then continues to Luhačovice. The Skřítek Větrník Educational Trail in the Větrník landscape comprises six stations dedicated to wind, wind energy and the concept of a climate spa resort. It includes wooden play elements, wooden benches and a picnic set.
The educational trail at Luhačovická Dam presents the history of the former Šťávnice Valley, mills that have disappeared, the floods in Luhačovice, and the construction and present-day use of the dam. A blue-marked hiking trail from Starý Světlov Castle to Luhačovice also passes through Pozlovice. A multi-purpose sports court is located by the school and is intended for tennis, small-sided football, basketball, volleyball, football tennis and other physical activities.
Culture and History
The Church of St Martin in Pozlovice was rebuilt in stone in 1642 and expanded in 1672 with an extension and side chapels. The church complex is protected as a cultural monument. It includes four stone tombs and a stone crucifix. The church has historic organs that were acquired between 1790 and 1798 and have since been restored.
The Pozlovice vicarage was built in 1757 in the Baroque style with the coat of arms of the Counts of Serenyi. The protected vicarage complex comprises the vicarage, utility buildings with stables and a barn, an enclosing wall, and a statue of St John of Nepomuk. Further historic evidence can be found along paths and at crossroads: The wayside shrine on the field path to Horní Lhota is listed as a cultural monument and dates from the early 18th century. The wayside shrine at the Řetechov crossroads is also listed as a cultural monument and dates from 1719. The statue of St John of Nepomuk in Pozlovice is listed as a cultural monument and dates from 1774.
The ruins of Starý Světlov Castle preserve clearly visible stone walls. Restoration and conservation work stabilises the masonry and protects the cultural monument. Thus, the paths through the surrounding area focus not only on nature and bodies of water, but also on stone remnants from various periods.
