Oldřichovice: Church, Trails and Local History

Oldřichovice combines a modern church with older local connections. The Church of St. Zdislava was built between 1994 and 1997, designed by architect Martin Tomešek and consecrated by Auxiliary Bishop Josef Hrdlička. The pilgrimage stage from Štípa to Napajedla passed through the Church of St. Zdislava in Oldřichovice.

Culture

The history of the village can be traced through several periods. Oldřichovice has been documented in writing since 3 April 1337. In the first half of the 14th century, the village was part of the Podhradí estate. Its local traditions were shaped by its location at the transition between Slovácko, Wallachia and Haná. Until 1880, Oldřichovice had its own men’s and women’s traditional costumes. The sports memory tournament in honour of Miloš Skácel is also held regularly.

Location and Access

Oldřichovice lies in the hills above Malenovice, between Pohořelice and Karlovice. Rail access to Oldřichovice is via Napajedla, 5 km away, on line 330 between Přerov and Břeclav. The road to Oldřichovice branches off Class I road 55 between Otrokovice and Staré Město u Uherského Hradiště.
