Slušovice: Landscape, Culture and Horse Racing

A prominent building is the Parish Church of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist in Slušovice. It was built between 1812 and 1815. It too is registered as an immovable cultural monument and dates from 1731.

Horse Racing and Golf

The Slušovice racetrack complex was built in 1981 for flat and steeplechase racing. The Slušovice racetrack is the only racetrack in the Czech Republic with banked curves. A distinct sporting tradition is the Velká slušovická steeplechase: it is regularly held on 28 October as a 5,200-metre steeplechase.

The golf course of the Derby Golf Club Slušovice is located within the racetrack complex. It is a flat nine-hole course. The golf course is open to the public and available to all players, including beginners without a handicap. Thus, two clearly different sports, each with its own characteristics, are spatially combined on the site.

Active Travel

Cycling route 5036 passes through Slušovice. It is 27 kilometres long and ends in Dešná, where it connects to long-distance cycling route 46. The cycling route and airfield thus complement the town’s cultural and sporting highlights with two additional specific points of interest.
