Ch’q’vishi is the birthplace of the Georgian poets Galaktion Tabidze and Titsian Tabidze. Those wishing to book a hotel in Chkvishi can continue their accommodation search afterward. The Galaktion Tabidze Museum opened in 1966. The house museum of Galaktion and Titsian Tabidze stands in Ch’q’vishi beside the Rioni River. Regular offerings at this house museum should not be expected during the planned rehabilitation from 2026 to 2028.
Galaktion’s memorial house comprises two rooms, including the poet’s study. The museum displays the poets’ desks and personal belongings, as well as photographs and illustrated fragments from their lives. At the Galaktion Tabidze house museum, visitors can also see the house where the poet was born and grew up; the museum also presents an old house there. The cultural celebrations Galaktionoba and Titsianoba take place annually in Ch’q’vishi.
Historical records first mention Ch’q’vishi in the 16th century under the names Chq’usher and Chq’ushi. At that time, the settlement belonged to the Principality of Mikelaadze.
Landscape and Nature
Sulori is a balneological resort in the municipality of Vani, known for its thermal and mineral waters. The municipality of Vani extends across the Meskheti Range and the Imereti Lowland. Its landscapes include deciduous, coniferous and subalpine forests, as well as subalpine and alpine meadows.
Surroundings
The municipality of Vani is home to medieval churches and fortresses, the Bzvani karst cave and the sulfur geysers of Dikhashkho.
