Culture and history
The former Mănăstirea Tutana is now a parish church. Its church, “Sf. Atanasie,” has a three-apsidal floor plan; the façades are designed with exposed brick and two registers of arcades. The church was built before 1497 and rebuilt between 1582 and 1588. At the former Mănăstirea Tutana, it is considered the only Romanian church with this patron saint dedication.
The ruins of the bell tower of the Tutana monastery complex date from 1582 to 1588, while the ruins of the monks’ cells date from the 15th to the 18th century. The enclosure wall of the complex dates from the 16th century.
Băiculești railway station is an architectural monument dating from 1880. The municipalities of Băiculești and Bunești were the principal benefactors of the Orthodox church “Sfinții Arhangheli Mihail și Gavriil.” Its interior painting dates from 1951 and was executed by Emil Ivănescu-Millan. The church remains a functioning and active place of worship for the local community.

An MTB XC cycling route leads from Băiculești via Tutana, Bascovele, Ursoaia, Cotmeana and Băbana to Pitești. The MTB route runs mostly along unpaved farm tracks and lightly trafficked county and municipal roads. It requires good physical preparation and confident bicycle control on uneven surfaces; caution is advised on busier sections.
