Near Valea Drăganului and Stâna de Vale, Moara Dracului Waterfall lies on the western slope of the Vlădeasa Mountains. The Ciripa–Moara Dracului hiking route begins at the Ciripa forestry canton in Valea Drăganului, at an elevation of 1,046 meters, and leads to the waterfall in about two hours.

The approximate duration and clearly stated starting point make it easier to assess the timing when considering different routes and activities side by side.

Nature and Water

Lacul Drăgan is located in Valea Drăganului, at the confluence of the Drăgan and Sebeșel rivers. Organized kayak tours regularly take place on Lacul Drăgan.

The route around the Drăgan Reservoir also passes through Valea Drăganului at the end of the lake. When planning, water and trails can be considered as separate focuses side by side, without committing yourself to just one form of activity for the day.

Hiking Trails

The marked route from Valea Drăganului to Cabana Vlădeasa passes through Vișagu and Piatra Bănișorului. This route initially follows the county road toward Lunca Vișagului and leaves it after 1.5 kilometers at the junction with the road to Tranișu.

A trail descending from Vlădeasa into Valea Drăganului includes Piatra Bănișorului and runs entirely along forestry roads. The tourist trail in Valea Drăganului lies at an elevation of approximately 550 meters and begins at the Valea Drăganului CFR railway stop.

The information about markings, route, elevation and terrain helps you organize the trails according to their respective characteristics. Duration, elevation, markings and terrain can be given different weights when planning your own day.

Culture

The Orthodox Church of Valea Drăganului was built between 1972 and 1982. Its design was inspired by the church in Curtea de Argeș.

Piatra Bănișorului is a rock formation with a cross at its summit. Piatra Bănișorului commemorates the battles from the time of Avram Iancu; the cross there commemorates the heroes from Vișagu.

For motorized excursions, WildWheels in Valea Drăganului rents ATVs for relaxed rides, outings, tours and team-building activities. Hiking trails, water activities, historical connections and ATV rides represent different themes that you can weigh separately when putting your days together.

Access to the Village

The access road to Valea Drăganului crosses the railway line and the Crișul Repede River before reaching the village. After entering the village, the road follows the left bank of the Drăgan River.

You can consider the crossings before the village and the subsequent riverside stretch as two separate orientation points.
