Culture and History
The first documentary mention within the country of the Curtea Domnească in Târgoviște dates back to 1403. The complex was designed as a group of buildings serving the ruler, his family, the courtiers, the servants, and the guards.

The Casa-Atelier Gabriel Popescu is described as Romania’s only engraving workshop house with a wooden press. Following extensive restoration, modernization, and enhancement works, the Casa-Atelier reopened in June 2016.
The Casa Romanței in Târgoviște is a museum space unique in Romania. Visitors can watch video recordings of the National “Crizantema de aur” Festival there.
The museums in Dâmbovița are open year-round, including on public holidays; Mondays and days with announced works or unforeseen events are excluded.
Nature
Bucegi Nature Park is a protected area and part of the Natura 2000 international network of protected areas.
Zimbrăria Neagra was established in 1983 to promote the adaptation of European bison to the lowlands. In Pădurea Neagră near Bucșani, it has 162 hectares of enclosures between the Crivăț and Neagra streams.
Cheile Tătarului is a nature reserve in Dâmbovița County. Turbăria Lăptici is a botanical nature reserve in Dâmbovița County. Canionul Horoabei is a nature reserve in Dâmbovița County.
Zimbrăria Neagra offers a nature excursion during which visitors can observe the European bison kept there.
Routes
The Circuitul Turistic al Capitalelor Țării Românești connects Bucharest, Târgoviște, Curtea de Argeș, and Câmpulung.
The “Ruta secretelor județului Dâmbovița spre munții Bucegi” is 119.8 kilometers long in total and has been recognized as a cultural-tourism route.
“Dâmboviţa 4 x 4” is an off-road route in Dâmboviţa County.
Markets and Regional Culture
At the traditional fair in Voinești, visitors can find cheese, traditional meat products, vegetables, fruit, beekeeping products, and traditional beverages from the Dâmbovița Valley and beyond. The traditional fair in Voinești was held annually and had already existed for more than 50 years.
