The Muzeul Costumului Popular Gorjenesc Tismana is located in the Casa de Cultură „George Coșbuc“ Tismana and contains unique pieces as well as folk costumes from the 19th century. Tismana Monastery is considered the oldest monastery in Romania; construction began two centuries before the arrival of Saint Nicodemus. The Tismana Monastery Museum contains old objects from the church and old paintings. The museum collection of Tismana Monastery is located on DN 67D and the DJ Târgu-Jiu–Baia de Aramă road at kilometre 35.
In the village of Pocruia, experienced craftspeople make traditional wooden vessels and barrels, milk churns, grain containers and small craft barrels. Arta Casnică Tismana offers Tismana rugs, carpets, embroidered textiles, shirts, veils, aprons, belts and traditional footwear.

Festivals and Markets
The Assumption of Mary fair takes place every year in Tismana on 15 August. On the feast day, the performances are moved to Poiana Sântămăriei near the Şarşori Forest. The Annunciation fair also takes place every year on 25 March; pots and small clay vessels, garden seeds, as well as willow baskets and willow chairs are sold there.

Nature and Trails
The Gura-Plaiului Cave lies north of the village of TopeÅŸti at an elevation of 650 metres. It was formed by water in Jurassic-Cretaceous limestone, is 150 metres long and begins with a small shaft 7 metres deep. This is followed by a small chamber and a large chamber measuring 70 metres in length and 4 metres in height, with rich stalactite and stalagmite formations.
The Cioclovina Nature Reserve is a 12-hectare botanical protected area of national interest in IUCN Category IV, located within the administrative territory of the town of Tismana. It includes rocky meadows where rare service trees grow.

Spiritual Heritage
The church of Schitul Cioclovina de Sus is part of the spiritual heritage. It dates from the 18th century, is 7 metres long and 3 metres wide, and was built from stone, rock fragments and bricks. In 1841, Archimandrite Spiridon renovated the church.
