Leváre is located in the eastern part of the Slovak Karst, on the valley floor in the Východný Turiec valley. The easternmost part of the municipality of Leváre is partly covered by oak forest.

Culture and History

Leváre is home to the Roman Catholic Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, built in 1873. It was constructed on the site of a wooden church from 1732 that had collapsed, and is a filial church of the Držkovce parish. Leváre also has a village museum.

The Leváre baths are also part of the local history. They were built in the mid-19th century by Mr Csernyus using natural spring water. The baths ceased operating after 1970.

Local Traditions
