Klubina: Nature, Chapels and Hotels in the Bystrica Valley

Klubina lies at the transition between the Kysucké vrchy and the Slovenské Beskydy in the valley of the Bystrica River. The cadastral area includes a river course, mountains, religious sites, historical landmarks and cultural venues. Several destinations in the immediate and wider surroundings also contribute to the character of the area.

Nature

The highest point in Klubina’s cadastral area is Veľká Rača, at 1,236 m, in the Klubinská dolina valley. Near Klubina, the Klubinský potok stream flows into the Bystrica River from the right. The Klubinský potok nature reserve is also located in the cadastral area of Klubina. The mountains of Marusov Vrch, Tkáčova Hora and Černatin are nearby. The mountain of Upratisko is located in the vicinity of Klubina. The ruins of Starý Hrad are also located farther away in the wider region.

Culture

A Stations of the Cross route runs through Klubina along the access road from the wooden bell tower to the Chapel of Divine Mercy. In the lower part of the village, a wayside cross with relief sculptures of Saint Joseph, the Virgin Mary and Saint Francis was erected in 1911.

Towards the end of the 19th century, a multifunctional building with a water mill and sawmill was constructed in Klubina. The basement of the former building housed drive mechanisms, a saw frame, a mill room, shingle production and a grain-sieving facility. The former building with a water mill and sawmill from Klubina is currently on display at the Múzeum kysuckej dediny in Vychylovka.

Faith

In the Chapel of Panny Márie – Povýšky (Povišky), the statue of the Virgin Mary dates from 1869. The chapel was rebuilt by residents of Klubina in 1961 and renovated in 1990. Every year, around the Feast of Our Lady, Queen, on 22 August, believers from Klubina and the surrounding villages gather at the Chapel of Panny Márie – Povýšky (Povišky).

Cycling Route and Venue

A pavilion was built at the Amphitheatre na Kamencoch in Klubina. The pavilion is part of the cultural and recreational complex “Výstavba amfiteátra na Kamencoch v Klubine” and is located near the Bystrická cyklomagistrála. In addition, a relatively easy section of the Kysucká Cyklomagistrála leads from Nová Bystrica to Klubina.
