For those interested in history, the story of Teplička nad Váhom begins with a name from the year 1267: at that time, the place appeared in written sources as Toplucha. Other topics associated with the town include market traditions, sacred architecture, craft history and sporting activities around Straník.

History

The historical name Teplica referred to warm springs. In 1757, Teplička nad Váhom was granted the right to hold annual fairs. Another economic-historical connection followed in 1767: that year, the town became the seat of a textile manufactory. It mainly produced linen, cotton and wool textiles and processed leather.

Culture

The market tradition remains a tangible presence at the annual Svätomartinský jarmok. It takes place every year in November at Námestie sv. Floriána in Teplička nad Váhom. Vendors of wooden, woven, clay and ceramic goods were invited to demonstrate their products on site at the market. The market was also intended to offer honey and honey products, gingerbread, cakes, sausages and other food.

The castle of Teplička nad Váhom is part of the architectural heritage. It was originally built toward the end of the 16th century in the Renaissance style and is a national cultural monument. The Roman Catholic Church of St. Martin in Teplička nad Váhom dates from 1589. Its Loreto Chapel has publicly housed the mortal remains of Zofia Bosniakova since 1728.
