Liptovský Trnovec combines its connection to the Liptovská Mara reservoir with a cultural history dating back to the first half of the 19th century. Added to this are specific waterside activities, historic churches, a stone pillory and MARAVAR, a family brewery in the village. In Liptovský Trnovec, water sports, regional history and a clearly identifiable local beer offering come together.

Water

The Plážové kúpalisko Liptovský Trnovec is located on the shore of the Liptovská Mara reservoir. Jet skis, motorboats, kayaks and pedal boats are rented there. The Plážové kúpalisko also offers ideal conditions for sailing and windsurfing on the reservoir. Another option on the water is the regular catamaran trips operated by Loď Mara, which are available for groups of four to 24 people.

The geographical setting of the village is also closely connected with the reservoir: the cadastral area of Liptovský Trnovec extends south as far as the shore of Liptovská Mara. After the reservoir was built, Liptovský Trnovec developed into a center of summer leisure tourism.

Culture

The cultural history of the village dates back to the first half of the 19th century. At that time, Liptovský Trnovec was one of the cultural centers of the Liptov region and an important center of the national revival. The foundations of amateur theater were laid here in 1864. The first direct mention of a theatrical performance in Liptovský Trnovec dates from 1865.

History

One of the village's notable religious buildings is the present-day Neoclassical Church of the Holy Spirit. It was built between 1810 and 1820 on the site of a medieval church dating from the early 14th century.

The Evangelical church in Liptovský Trnovec was built in 1925 on the site of a toleration church dating from 1784. It contains a memorial plaque from 1784 and an old altarpiece depicting the Last Supper from the late 18th century. Both pieces were transferred from the former toleration church. The stone pillory from the 17th century, which has chains with shackles on all four sides, is also part of the village's history.
