Partizánska Ľupča is characterized by a distinctive cultural heritage zone and a settlement structure whose layout was established in the Middle Ages. The urban structure includes a central square and has been partially altered by more recent historic buildings and green spaces. The unique landscape structure of the Ľupčianka was decisive for the design of the cultural heritage zone and its transport connections.

Culture

Many buildings in the Partizánska Ľupča cultural heritage zone preserve authentic historic façades and interiors. They include valuable artistic and craft details as well as fine-art features that help define the architectural character of the zone.

The Roman Catholic Church of Saint Matthew was built on the square in the last third of the 13th century. In the 16th century, a fortified protective wall with loopholes was built around it, and the tower was also modified. The church preserves a former guardroom and a narrow balcony running around the tower.

At the northern edge of Partizánska Ľupča stands the Roman Catholic Church of the Seven Sorrows of Mary, built in 1263. It contains a Gothic entrance to the sacristy and, on the southern side, an original Gothic portal with shafts in the reveal.

The town's historic character also includes a market tradition that is one of the oldest in the Liptov region. The square, churches, architectural details and market history are thus part of a closely interconnected cultural framework.

Nature

Another geographical connection leads to Magurka. The former mining settlement lies at an elevation of 1,080 metres in the Ľupčianska Valley of the Low Tatras. Above it rise the peaks of Latiborská hoľa at 1,648 metres, Ďurková at 1,749 metres and Chabenec at 1,955 metres.

The mining history is also connected with this area: gold mining in the vicinity of Magurka began around 1250. A blue-marked hiking trail also begins at the southern end of Partizánska Ľupča, known as Biela Ľupča.

The D1 motorway is approximately 3 km north of Partizánska Ľupča.
