Liptovská Lúžna – Nature and Hotels beneath the Low Tatras
Liptovská Lúžna lies in the Lúžňanska kotlina basin formed by the Lúžňanka River, directly beneath the ridge of the Low Tatras. The entire cadastral area of Liptovská Lúžna lies within the protected zone of the Low Tatras National Park. This means that a clearly defined geographical location and a protected natural area meet in one place.
Nature
The Ráztoky Valley has walking trails through easily accessible terrain. The KUBO mineral spring is located in the Bory area of the village. The mineral springs in the Banské Valley are also frequent destinations for family outings and walks. Another way to observe the landscape is the path through a meadow, which offers views of the Lúžanské Meandre of the Lúžňanka stream with its clear, slow-flowing water.
The Hučiaky gorges can be visited to experience distinctive natural landscapes. The Meandre Lúžňanky natural monument can also be visited. Each of these places represents its own landscape form: trails run through the Ráztoky Valley, the Lúžanské Meandre belong to the Lúžňanka stream, and the Hučiaky gorges are among the explicitly mentioned natural destinations.
Trails
For a longer hike, a full-day hiking route leads from Liptovská Lúžna through the Ráztocká dolina Valley and over the Ráztocké sedlo saddle to Salatín. A cycling route leads from Liptovská Lúžna via Prievalec and Železno to Magurka and back. Both routes are precisely defined by their named valleys, saddles, and destinations. The named valleys, saddles, and destinations make the course of both routes easy to follow.
Culture
The present-day Church of the Holy Trinity was built between 1843 and 1848. A monument to those who fell in the Slovak National Uprising stands on Mount Kečka. The village landscape also includes a chain-like linear settlement along the road, with log houses, several of which are cultural monuments.
Winter
The cross-country ski trail is prepared by volunteers from ŠKC Liptovská Lúžna with the support of the municipal administration. It begins immediately next to the Lúžanské Meandre. There is parking for the cross-country ski trail directly on the main road at the turnoff to the Meandre Lúžňanky natural monument.
