Markušovce Hotels: Manor House, Church and Castle Ruins
Culture and History
The Church of St. Michael the Archangel, “Kostol sv. Michala archanjela”, reflects several historical periods. It was originally late Romanesque and is mentioned as early as 1280. Its predominantly Baroque interior is complemented by tombstones of the Mariássy family dating from the 16th and 17th centuries. The tombstones are made of red marble.
The partially preserved and roofed ruins of Markušovský hrad castle are located directly in the municipality of Markušovce. The castle was built in 1284 and destroyed in 1527. Its surviving structural remains thus represent a history in which both its construction and destruction can be clearly dated, while part of the complex has been preserved.
Another historic focal point is the “Kaštieľ Markušovce” manor house. František Máriássy had it built in the Renaissance style in 1643. The manor house’s present appearance dates from a Rococo-style renovation carried out between 1772 and 1780. The same building therefore preserves both its original Renaissance form and its later Rococo appearance.
The museum exhibition in the manor house presents the development and various forms of furniture art and interior furnishings in chronological order, from the 17th century to the beginning of the 20th century. Letohrádok Dardanely was built in 1777–1778. It houses an exhibition of historic keyboard instruments; festive concerts are occasionally held at Letohrádok Dardanely.
The “Kaštieľ Markušovce” manor house and Letohrádok Dardanely are branches of the Spiš Museum in Spišská Nová Ves. Both are located at Michalská 59, 053 21 Markušovce.
Nature
In addition to the historic buildings, the French Park in Markušovce is one of the listed sites. It is divided into three terraces connected by a stone staircase. The Markušovská dolina valley offers opportunities for hiking and complements the historic sites with a natural setting.

When comparing hotels in Markušovce, check the exact location, accommodation type and possible occupancy on the relevant offer page. Also pay attention to the included services and individual price components so that different offers can be compared transparently side by side. Before booking, the booking and cancellation conditions should be clearly stated. These points help you assess the appropriate option according to comprehensible criteria, without anticipating its features, availability or terms. This is particularly useful when planning with a focus on price, as it allows you to consider the total price and the actual scope of services separately. You can also check when payment is due and whether any additional costs are listed separately, provided the offer page contains such information. Comparing offers for the same travel duration and occupancy makes the stated price components easier to understand.
