Podhájska: Thermal Baths, Cycling Routes and Culture

Podhájska combines geothermal water, year-round opportunities for relaxation and leisure at the thermal baths, cycling routes and local culture. For visitors, wellness, exercise and cultural destinations therefore emerge as distinct themes. The different facets of the town can be seen in specific facilities, routes and buildings.

Wellness

The geothermal water of Podhájska was drilled in 1973 in the area of Podhájska. It is highly mineralized and reaches temperatures of up to 83 °C at a depth of 1,900 meters. In terms of its composition, it is comparable to the quality of the Dead Sea. The temperature specification is expressly linked to the depth of 1,900 meters. The Podhájska Thermal Baths offer opportunities for relaxation and leisure throughout the year. The Aquamarin Wellness Centre includes a water world, a vitality and sauna world, as well as massages. In addition to the geothermal water, clearly designated areas for swimming, vitality services, sauna use and massages are therefore available in the town.

Cycling

Cycling offers two routes with different key characteristics. Cycling route 2103 is a 12 km-long MTB route with the difficulty level „leisure“. It runs through the cadastral areas of Podhájska and Radava. Cycling route 8107 starts in Podhájska and runs along the thermal baths. The first route is therefore defined by its length, MTB type and difficulty level, while the starting point in Podhájska and its route along the thermal baths are specified for the second route. Both routes remain clearly connected to Podhájska geographically, but differ in the characteristics described for each.

Culture

Leisure activities in Podhájska include walks to the mini open-air museum „Drevená dedinka“. This cultural aspect is complemented by two Roman Catholic churches in the town. The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary on Senčianska Street was built in 1903–1904. The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary on Belecká Street was built in 1905–1906. Both construction periods fall at the beginning of the 20th century and give the churches mentioned a clear chronological context. Hody is held annually on September 11 in this district of Podhájska. The town's cultural features therefore include walks to a mini open-air museum, the two churches with their construction dates and an annual recurring festival date.
