Marcelová – Nature Reserves, Churches and Hotels

The Baroque Roman Catholic Church of St. John the Baptist in Marcelová dates from 1731. It is therefore one of the town’s clearly datable historic buildings.

Another cultural connection leads to the historical archery association Fekete Sólyom, also known as Čierny Sokol, which has been based in Marcelová since 2006. Fekete Sólyom conveys the culture and martial customs of ancient Hungarian and Avar archers through historical clothing and equipment. At historical festivals at home and abroad, the association performs dynamic archery demonstrations. Local cultural celebrations are also held in Marcelová.

Nature

The landscape of Marcelová includes two nature reserves with distinctly different areas and their own cadastral classifications. The Marcelovské Piesky Nature Reserve covers 4.5 hectares and lies in the cadastral area of Krátke Kesy. The Pohrebište Nature Reserve covers 69.3 hectares and lies in the cadastral area of Marcelová. The two protected areas are thus described separately by name, area, and cadastral area.

Location

Marcelová lies on the road between Komárno and Štúrovo. Roads from Chotín, Šrobárová, and Virt lead to Marcelová. Its geographical location therefore includes both the connection between the two cities mentioned and the roads from the three places named.
