Ľubotice: Church, Manor House and Traces of the Neolithic

Ľubotice can be explored through specific buildings and traces whose dates span widely different periods. A tangible starting point is the Roman Catholic Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary: it was built in 1806 in the Baroque-Classical style. The most recent renovation and extension took place in 1993. The furnishings include six stained-glass windows, three each on the south and north sides, based on a design by the academic painter Ladislav Záborský.

Since the first half of the 13th century, Ľubotice developed as a linear village along a stream, with a main road running parallel to the Ľubotický potok. The settlement structure can be understood through the relationship between the village row, the main road and the stream.

Finds from the Early Neolithic have been discovered in the Šarišské Lúky locality and are dated to the period from 5000 to 3800 BC. Alongside the buildings and settlement history, this dating reveals a significantly earlier period.
