Lesnica: Gorges, Hiking Trails and Dunajec Rafting

A blue-marked hiking trail leads through the Prielom Lesnického potoka Nature Reserve. After joining the red-marked hiking trail, it continues to the Lesnica–Szczawnica pedestrian border crossing.

Nature

The Prielom Dunajca National Nature Reserve is also located within the cadastral area of Lesnica. The Prielom Lesnického potoka is an aesthetically impressive gorge. The Prielom Dunajca is a gorge formed by the Dunajec River and is of great scientific and scenic-aesthetic importance.

Hiking

A tourist trail leads through the Prielom Dunajca and also serves as an educational and interpretive trail with 10 stations.

A blue-marked trail leads from Červený Kláštor via Cerla, Targov and Lesnica to the confluence of the Lesnický potok and the Dunajec. A red-marked trail leads from the Lesnica/Szczawnica border crossing through Lesnica towards Lesnické sedlo. When comparing several trails, you can use the marking colour, named intermediate locations and direction of travel as points of reference. The trail through the nature reserve and the two marked connections identify different points of reference: one mentions the connection to another trail and the border crossing, while the other mentions Cerla, Targov and the confluence.

River and Tradition

The rafting trip from Červený Kláštor to Lesnica is approximately 11 km long and takes about 1.5 hours. Traditional trips on wooden rafts on the Dunajec end at the harbour near Lesnica.
