Dubnica nad Váhom – Hotels, Culture and Nature Trail
In Dubnica nad Váhom, a national cultural monument, historic grounds, a viewpoint, a nature trail and a folklore event held on fixed dates come together. Dubnický Manor House is a national cultural monument. It was built between 1637 and 1642 as the representative family residence of the Ilešházy family.
Culture and History
Today, Dubnický Manor House is associated with more than just its architectural history. It currently houses the Dubnica Museum, a gallery and the municipal information centre. The Dubnica Museum focuses on the history and cultural traditions of Dubnica nad Váhom and the Dubnica nad Váhom region. This means that the site encompasses both the historic building and institutions dedicated to the history and cultural traditions of the town and its surrounding region.
The Church of St James the Apostle is also Gothic and was remodelled in the Baroque style in 1754. It is also listed in the Central Register of Cultural Monuments of Slovakia.
Historic Grounds and Viewpoints
The historic J.B. Magina Park is a protected cultural monument owned by the town of Dubnica nad Váhom. In the centre of Dubnica nad Váhom, it offers a place to relax in nature. The former garden grounds of Dubnický Manor House were redesigned by Jozef Illésházy as a French park.
The Grotto with its observation tower consists of an artificial cave and a wooden observation tower. From the viewpoint at the Grotto with observation tower, visitors can look out over the Považie and Vršatec.
Nature Trail and Route
The Dubnickým chotárom nature trail is a self-guided footpath accessible year-round. It runs in both directions and is connected to the green hiking trail markings. The starting point is listed as the Dubnica nad Váhom, SPŠ bus stop; from there, the nature trail can be reached via a subsequent 300-metre walk in a southwesterly direction.
