Sedmerovec is located in the Ilavské podolie valley at the foot of the White Carpathians. In the district of Pominovec, within the cadastral territory of Sedmerovec, there is a Romanesque manor church from the 12th century, dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, which has been listed as a national cultural monument since 7 November 1963.

Culture

The village church of Sedmerovec is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, was consecrated on 30 June 2002 and partially renovated in 2022. The roofing was replaced and a new façade was installed. The centrally located Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, consecrated in 1927, also stands in the centre.

Above Sedmerovec, in Líščia, the Chapel of the Seven Sorrows of Mary was consecrated on 15 September 1997. The church of Pominovec is located within the cadastral territory of Sedmerovec, in the middle of the fields between Bolešov and Pruské, and is now used only rarely for religious ceremonies.

Visiting and the Route to Pominovec

The site of Pominovec can be visited freely; access to the church interior can be arranged in advance. The church stands approximately 1.5 km southeast of Sedmerovec. It can be reached via a field road that branches off Route 507 between Nemšová and Pruské.

Pilgrimage and Dates

The traditional cycling pilgrimage “Cyklopúť Pominovec” has taken place annually since 2004 on the last Sunday in August. The pilgrimage to Pominovec includes a Holy Mass, the symbolic blessing of the bicycles and the distribution of Saint Christopher stickers to the pilgrims. A solemn church feast Mass is held annually at the central chapel on the occasion of the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

A Holy Mass is usually celebrated at the chapel in Líščia on 15 September for the Feast of the Seven Sorrows of Mary. Believers also meet there to pray the Rosary, especially in May.
