Poriadie Hotel – Educational Trail, Memorial Sites and the White Carpathians

Poriadie has a distinctly scattered settlement pattern typical of the Kopaničiarske form of settlement. The municipality lies on the low slopes of the Myjava Hills. Part of Poriadie is located on the southwestern foothills of the White Carpathians below the Javorina Massif. These spatial relationships shape the landscape as well as the paths and memorial sites associated with the area.

Geographical Setting

A railway line runs through Poriadie; it was built and put into operation in 1930. The village has a railway station bearing the municipality’s name. From this starting point, the green-marked hiking trail No. 5116 runs for 10.3 kilometres to Zemlianky, then continues to the SNP Memorial and on to Prídolie, ending at the Dibrovov Memorial on the Czech border. The Dibrovov Memorial stands on the ridge of the White Carpathians. There, the green-marked trail intersects with the long-distance Cesta hrdinov SNP trail.

Hiking and Cycling

The Poriadie–Rudník educational trail follows existing paved roads and forest paths. There are three stations with information boards along its route. The educational trail is 2.284 kilometres long. From Poriadie, an easy route of approximately 3 kilometres, marked in green, also leads to the memorial in Krivosudy. The approximate length and green markings are just as much part of the description of this route as its destination at the memorial.

An intelligent bicycle shelter is located in the centre of Poriadie. It has a charger for six electric bicycles. The bicycle shelter also includes a touchscreen information panel through which visitors can access interesting information.

History

A partisan group was stationed in the Krivosudy area of Poriadie in October 1944. The partisan site in Krivosudy includes the Zbojníčka spring and earth bunkers built there by the partisans. The bunkers in Krivosudy are preserved and equipped with simple wooden bunks that served as beds.

The U Klasovitých Memorial commemorates the last battle of the first campaign of the rebel army of the Slovak Revolution in 1848. The U Klasovitých memorial complex was ceremonially unveiled in 1968. Access to this memorial is via a staircase lined with a row of trees.

Culture

The local events calendar includes Jarný slnovrat, a traditional pre-Easter event held at the Poriadie Cultural Centre. The public goulash-cooking competition is also associated with the area: in 2024 it was held as the 8th edition, in 2025 as the 9th edition and in 2026 as the 10th edition.
