Landscape

Horná Streda lies in a foothill area of the Danubian Lowland. Most of the cadastral area belongs to the geomorphological unit Dolnovážska niva, while the easternmost part of the cadastral area is assigned to the geomorphological unit Považský Inovec. The cadastral area also lies within the Váh river basin. The spatial structure of the town therefore brings together a river landscape and two geomorphological units.

There is a natural lake in the cadastral area of Horná Streda. Horná Streda has a small leisure complex by a lake with refreshment stands and a beach. The complex thus combines three clearly identified elements: the body of water, refreshment facilities in the form of stands and a beach.

Culture

The Roman Catholic Church of All Saints was originally Baroque and was built in 1728 on the site of a Gothic church dating from 1353. In 1924, it was completely rebuilt and extended with a transept.

The first written mention of Horná Streda dates from 1263, when the town was referred to as Sceredahel. The area of Horná Streda had already been settled since the time of Great Moravia. The town's history also includes Jozef Marek: the veterinarian was born in Horná Streda in 1868. A commemorative plaque dedicated to him was unveiled in 1988 on the occasion of his 120th birthday.

Cycle Route

A cycle path runs through Horná Streda. The Horná Streda–Nové Mesto nad Váhom cycle route begins at the border between the Trnava and Trenčín regions in the municipality of Horná Streda. It is 13.4 km long and up to 3 m wide. Its route runs along the crest of the flood protection embankment on the Váh.

The Horná Streda–Nové Mesto nad Váhom cycle route has a recreational difficulty level and is suitable for all age groups, including children. Thanks to its special surface, it is also intended for inline skaters. Along the route, it offers views of Tematín, Čachtice and Beckov castles.
