Pružina: Find a hotel – discover the cave and Calvary

The Pružinská Dúpna Cave was formed through the long-term erosion of Mesozoic limestone by underground water. Its main passage is open to the public and is more than 300 metres long. Bats mainly use the cave as a winter refuge.

Access to the cave leads from the Pružina-Priedhorie district via the Karol Brančík educational trail. A guided tour of the Pružinská Dúpna Cave can be arranged with the chairman of the Strážovské vrchy Speleological Club.

Culture

In the centre of the village, the Pružina Calvary lies on a gentle hill in the grounds of the parish Church of St. Žofia. The church was originally Gothic and was extended with a presbytery in 1759. The Pružina Calvary originally consisted of 11 stations with 18 representations. It includes seven paintings by J. B. Klemens from 1863 and four paintings by K. Švestka from 1880. The museum exhibition in Pružina also includes a memorial room.

Pružina can serve as a starting point for hikes to the Strážov Waterfalls, which take approximately 3.5 hours. Near the Sedlo pod Strážovom saddle, you have to leave the yellow-marked hiking trail to reach the Strážov Waterfalls. The Strážovský Stream rises in the area around Pružina. After 100 metres, the stream flows over rock steps and forms two waterfalls, the Upper and Lower Waterfalls. The area around Pružina also offers opportunities for walks.
