Malé Uherce: Culture, Nature and Hotels
Malé Uherce lies at the transition between the southwestern foothills of the Hornonitrianska kotlina Basin and the Tribeč Mountains, on the Nitra floodplain and the alluvial fan of its left-bank tributary. Part of the CHKO Ponitrie Protected Landscape Area lies at the southern end of the cadastral territory. The area protects forest complexes with diverse morphological and relief features, as well as remnant stands of thermophilous flora.
Culture and History
Almost in the centre of Malé Uherce stands an 18th-century Baroque manor house. The Chapel of Kostol (Kaplnka) sv. Anny, a Baroque religious building constructed in 1719, is also part of the historic townscape. The former granary is the only surviving farm building of the estate complex in Malé Uherce. Its former function and the surviving building fabric point to the agricultural history of the town, without implying that any part of the building is accessible or in use today.
A notable memorial site is Pomník prísahy. The monument there is dedicated to the partisan oath. In Malé Uherce, Pomník prísahy is registered as a national cultural monument. The historic heritage of Malé Uherce thus includes a religious building from the early 18th century, a Baroque manor house, a surviving farm building and a memorial site connected with partisan history.
