Hradište: Hotel and History of Hradištský Mill

Hradište combines local technical history, music, sacred buildings, and a natural environment. In Hradište, the local electricity supply began with the generator at Hradišský Mill. It was the first source of electricity in Hradište, before the municipality was connected to the public electricity grid in 1938–1939.

History

The technical and musical traces acquire a clear chronological framework through their dates. Hradištský Mill has been historically documented since the early 18th century; its mention during a canonical visitation on January 7, 1729, has been preserved. At the beginning of the 1950s, Hradištský Mill ceased operations; the building was subsequently used as a grain store.

Another cultural trace is the brass band. It was founded in Hradište in 1927 and continues to exist today after several generational changes.

The Romanesque church of Hradište stands on the site of a Lusatian hillfort dating from the older Iron Age and near a defensive rampart. Thus, sacred architecture and older fortification traces are located directly next to each other at this site.
