Dolná Streda: Church, Protected Area and Educational Trail

One of the sights of Dolná Streda is the Roman Catholic Church of Saint James. The church that exists today was built in 1781 in the Baroque-Classical style. It stands on the site of an early medieval church that was already mentioned at the beginning of the 14th century. The present building therefore also points to an older ecclesiastical history at the same site. The year 1781 refers to the church that exists today, while the mention at the beginning of the 14th century concerns the considerably earlier predecessor.

In Dolná Streda, the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk is also listed in the Slovak register of national cultural monuments. The monument to those who fell in the First and Second World Wars is likewise located in Dolná Streda, but it is not listed in the register of national monuments. Thus, an entry is specified for the statue, but not for the war memorial.

In the vicinity of Dolná Streda is Šintava, a castle. The surroundings of Dolná Streda also include Kaštieľ Nebojsa, Renesančný kaštieľ and Neogotický kaštieľ; all three are castles.

Nature

The municipal protected area of Dolná Streda was designated because of its ecological, aesthetic and landscape-forming importance. It includes part of the Kráľová bird protection area. The designation of the municipal protected area therefore concerns a section of the bird protection area, not a complete overlap of the two areas.

A hundred-year-old linden tree stands in the park on Kostolné námestie. The park is suitable for walks and relaxation.

An educational trail was established around OR Dolnostredské Skala as part of a project carried out in cooperation with TTSK and the municipality of Dolná Streda. The trail also includes pavilions. TTSK and the municipality of Dolná Streda worked together on the project.

The Dunajský Vrch hill is also located in the surroundings of Dolná Streda. The mountains Šanec, Holý Vrch and Zobor are located in the wider regional surroundings of Dolná Streda. Dunajský Vrch is a hill in the vicinity. Šanec, Holý Vrch and Zobor, on the other hand, are mountains in the wider regional surroundings.
