Culture and history

The castle’s present appearance dates back to a Neo-Gothic reconstruction carried out in 1861. Renesančný kaštieľ is one of the most significant historical monuments in the city of Galanta.

Comprehensive heritage restoration carried out from 1980 to 1992 made public access to Renesančný kaštieľ possible. It houses a local history exhibition about Galanta and its surroundings.

The Roman Catholic Church of Saint Stephen the King was built from 1797 to 1800 and consecrated in 1805. It contains a Baroque altar from a chapel demolished in 1741.

Vlastivedné múzeum v Galante specializes in documenting the history of milling in the catchment area of the Little Danube and the lower Váh. Pamätná izba Zoltána Kodálya presents important stages and achievements from the life of the renowned composer.

Pamätná izba Karola Duchoňa displays his awards, an authentic painting by Barbora Didovová, and extensive photographic documentation. The exhibition Izba starých gramofónov a šelakových platní is a permanent exhibition from the collection of Kristián Takács.

Leisure and landscape

Vodný svet GALANDIA has an indoor swimming pool with four stainless-steel pools. Ranč na Striebornom jazere offers fishing at two lakes and, during the school year, programs such as nature stays and day trips.

From Galanta, cyclists can access the Vážska cyklomagistrála route toward Kolónia, Váhovce, and the Kaskády recreational area.

Promitor Vinorum offers organized group wine tastings combined with cellar tours. The Galantské trhy has been held under the patronage of the city of Galanta since its sixth edition. Vínna ulička is an annual part of the Galantské trhy, held on the grounds of Neogotický kaštieľ Castle in Galanta’s city park.

Stretnutie vo farbách is a traditional summer event in Galanta’s city park. It provides creative artists with space to present their works and art-interested visitors with valuable art experiences.
