Dunajský Klátov: Hotels, Water Mill and Cycle Paths

The Dunajský Klátov water mill is a cultural and technical monument on the bank of the Klátovské rameno arm of the Little Danube, in the cadastral area of the municipality of Dunajský Klátov.

Culture

The water mill houses a permanent exhibition on the milling industry with original equipment. The water mill in Dunajský Klátov is also one of the locations of the Žitnoostrovské Museum. During the reconstruction of the water mill in 2016, an observation platform was built on the opposite bank of the Klátovské rameno. As a result, the cultural and technical monument, the exhibition and the observation platform built later form a clear spatial connection at the mill site.

The Chapel of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is part of the local architectural history. It was built in 1927 and is the oldest building in Dunajský Klátov. Its date and its status as a particularly old building refer explicitly to the locality.

Nature

The Klátovské rameno is a right-bank tributary of the Little Danube and runs through the cadastral area of Dunajský Klátov. Around 80 bird species have been recorded in the area of the Klátovské rameno, of which about 70 breed there directly. The two approximate figures describe both the total number of recorded species and the share of species that breed directly in this area.

Cycle Paths

The cycle connections around Dunajský Klátov also have specific route lengths and courses. Section VII/2 of the Malé Dvorníky–Dunajský Klátov cycle path is 6.1 km long. The developed section of Route VII/2 runs from the centre of Malé Dvorníky to the cadastral boundary of Dunajský Klátov; thereafter, the signposted cycle route continues along a lower-class road into the municipality of Dunajský Klátov. The main cycle path IX is 14 km long and runs from Kútniky via Trhová Hradská, Horné Mýto and Ohrady Ostrov to Dunajský Klátov. The two connections therefore differ both in length and in their named starting points and intermediate locations.
