Vlčkovce: Hotels and Accommodation
The Cyril and Methodius Cycle Route passing through Vlčkovce connects the village with a 73-kilometre route; recreational cyclists can also ride just one section. Vlčkovce is 10 km from Trnava and can be reached from there by public bus in 10 minutes. Anyone wishing to stay overnight in Vlčkovce may be considering booking a hotel.
Nature and Landscape
Vlčkovce lies in the fertile Danubian Lowland, at the transition between the subregions of the hilly country and the Danubian Plain. The protected Vlčkovský háj area lies near the left bank of the Dudváh River, on the boundary between the cadastral territories of Vlčkovce and Majcichov. A remnant of a floodplain oak-elm-ash forest with endangered plant and animal species is protected there. Vlčkovský háj also has a rich occurrence of spring snowflake snowdrops.
Culture and History
The Church of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux in Vlčkovce was built in 1930 according to a design by the architect Michal Milan Harminc. The single-nave building with a transept and an asymmetrically positioned western tower has an exterior inspired by Romanesque architecture. The present church stands on the site of an older church; some sculptures and paintings from it were incorporated into the interior.
Fraňo Štefunko, a sculptor and visual artist born in Vlčkovce, was awarded the title of “National Artist” for his lifetime achievements in 1968. Works by Fraňo Štefunko can be seen in Vlčkovce, among other places in the municipal office and the primary school; these include a statue of Peter Michal Bohúň. The Retzer family mill has a history dating back to the 16th century. The former sugar factory complex in Vlčkovce dates from 1925. Vidiecky dom Vlčkovce was ceremonially opened and made accessible to the public on 6 October 2017.
Events and Regional Traditions
The traditional event “Jedlá starých materí” reached its 22nd edition in 2026. In 2026, “Vlčkovská klbáska” was the 13th edition of an annual sausage competition. A total of 55 sausage samples were assessed at the event. The anonymous samples were evaluated and ranked based on points for taste, smell, appearance and overall impression. Wine tastings are among the traditional activities in Vlčkovce.
The traditional Vlčkovský Silvestrovský beh zdravia took place on 31 December 2025, marking its eighth edition. The race started and finished at the Vlčkovce sports complex; the adult route ran through the streets of Vlčkovce.
