Križevci: Church, Lake and Nature
Križevci combines a clearly dated church-building history with bodies of water, riparian habitats and natural areas. Culture, nature conservation and trails can be explored through specific locations and landscape features.
Culture
The Protestant Church of Križevci was built in 1785; in 1885, it was extended by four metres. Both the original building and the later extension are therefore part of its documented architectural history.
The church is a single-nave building with a small polygonal-ended chancel. It also includes a bell tower with a bulbous roof and five vaulted bays.
Nature
Križevci is a settlement in Goričko Landscape Park. Its connection to the surrounding landscape is also reflected in the bodies of water and habitats associated with the settlement.
Lake Križevsko is an approximately two-hectare retention basin on the Mala Krka in Križevci. Its size should therefore be understood as an approximate value, while its location on the Mala Krka is clearly specified.
Lake Križevsko is a popular fishing spot. This use exists alongside its function as a retention basin and adds a specific recreational aspect to the profile of the body of water.
Along the Mala Krka in Križevci, otters, beavers, noble crayfish, numerous dragonfly species and several fish species are found. The list thus includes mammals, crustaceans, insects and fish along the same watercourse.
Water and Nature Conservation
At the Vidra AQUALUTRA Information Centre in Križevci, visitors can learn about the aquatic and riparian habitats of Goričko, as well as the plant and animal life found there. The focus is therefore on both the habitats and the flora and fauna that occur within them.
The Vidra AQUALUTRA Information Centre is dedicated to education, information and raising awareness for comprehensive nature conservation, with a focus on bodies of water. The emphasis is thus explicitly on protecting aquatic habitats and related topics.
Trails and Habitats
