Martjanci: St. Martin's Church, Cycling Route and Pond

St. Martin's Church in Martjanci is considered an exceptional monument of national importance. Inside are frescoes by Janez Aquila depicting episodes from the life of Saint Martin. A Latin inscription at St. Martin's Church states that the church was built in 1392 in honor of saints whose relics are kept there.

Culture

The furnishings of St. Martin's Church include a marble high altar, made in 1925 based on a design by architect Jože Plečnik. The frescoes give the church significance extending beyond the local region. St. Martin's Church can be visited by arrangement with the parish office in Martjanci. Thus, one building brings together medieval pictorial representations, the historic inscription and a later furnishing. Cycling

The Po bregaj cycling route runs through Moravske Toplice, Martjanci, Sebeborci, Andrejci and Zgornji Moravci before returning to Moravske Toplice. As a cycling loop, it is 16 kilometers long and runs entirely on paved roads. Po bregaj is signposted along the route and is suitable for recreational cyclists. Paths have been created around the pond in Martjanci, and two jetties and two bridges have been built. The pond area restored in Martjanci covers approximately 0.56 hectares.
