Hotels in Draga ā Cultural Heritage and Mountains in Slovenia
Draga is a Slovenian settlement with sacred cultural heritage, a designated cultural landscape, several memorial sites, local association events and mountains in the surrounding area and farther afield. The individual names, years and local references create a multifaceted picture: the church, the Resne njive landscape, monuments, association activities and a parish festival represent different facets of the settlement.
Culture
The Church of the Visitation of Mary in Draga is classified as an element of Slovenian cultural heritage. This makes a clearly identified sacred cultural site one of Dragaās defining cultural points of reference.
History
Two monuments provide distinct historical points of reference. The āŽrtvam Dragarske dolineā monument was unveiled in 1961 as a twisted obelisk on a raised platform with a figurative relief spiral. There is also a stone block bearing the names of those who fell. The āDraga, Spomenik padlim borcemā monument was unveiled in 1956 and commemorates PejnoviÄ Iso, Turk Stanko and Klepac Filip, who were shot there in August 1942.
This monument can be reached by turning onto a paved road directly behind the church in Draga, then continuing left onto a forest road and, after 200 metres, reaching the monument on the right-hand side in a small grassy hollow in the forest. The directions therefore name, in sequence, the turn behind the church, the paved road, the forest road, the distance and the location of the memorial site.
Landscape
The landscape is also defined by individual named features. The Resne njive cultural landscape in Draga is designated as a cultural heritage unit in the cultural landscape category. The Parg, Brinoh and Debeli Vrh mountains are located in the surrounding area of Draga. Mount GoteniŔki Vrh is located near Draga. Thus, alongside the cultural landscape within Draga, four individually named mountains appear, with two different spatial references.
Events
The Draga Cultural and Sports Association organises sports and cultural events. These include hikes, football tournaments, amateur theatre, childrenās workshops and intergenerational gatherings. The list therefore ranges from sporting events and performing arts to activities for children and meetings between several generations.
The parish festival āžegnanjeā is part of the local festivities. It was celebrated for several consecutive years in connection with the Feast of the Visitation of Mary on 31 May. At the āžegnanjeā, sweet and savoury foods are offered for tasting after Sunday Mass.
