Trails

The marked Šegova Trail begins in the hamlet of Matevljek and follows field and forest paths to Votla stena. In the direction of Petelinjek, the Šegova Trail can be continued via Pogorišča, Mašun, Jelenji vrh and the Retijska uvala, ending as a circular route in Hrib. Along the way, several named landscape features are thus connected, without the route being limited to a single section.

Customs

In Retje in Loški Potok, housewives prepare a Christmas bread called župnek on 24 December. The Christmas bread is decorated with a figure of Jesus. Some also place Joseph and Mary on it, along with as many doves as there are children in the household. The decoration thus combines a religious figure with a symbolic number of doves corresponding to the children of the respective household.

In Retje in Loški Potok, the tradition of preparing Poprtniker bread (“Priprava poprtnikov”) is also carried on by a group of housewives, including Marija Turk.
