Ilovik: Hotels and accommodations

Anyone wishing to book a hotel in Ilovik can continue searching for accommodation afterwards. Ilovik is known as the Island of Flowers because almost every house is decorated with oleanders, palm trees, roses and other flowers. Eucalyptus trees are a characteristic feature of Ilovik. The island also offers paths, bays, viewpoints and historic sites.

Nature and paths

The walking trails begin in the settlement of Ilovik and connect bays on the other side of the island with the coast of Sućadrija Bay. The paths are suitable for hiking and mountain biking; the route from Ilovik to Paržine Bay can be travelled by bicycle. Paržine Bay has a sandy beach. Culture and history

The present-day parish church of Saints Peter and Paul, built in the 19th century, was constructed in the settlement because the former Benedictine monastery church on Sveti Petar was difficult and inconvenient to reach. The remains of the Church of Saint Andrew, dating from the 5th century, are located on Ilovik at Sućadrija Bay. Nearby, across from Ilovik, the island of Sveti Petar is home to the remains of a Roman villa, the ruins of an 11th-century Benedictine monastery and a Venetian tower from the 16th century. Along the path from the centre of Ilovik there is a 12-metre-deep well with a freshwater spring.

Local life

Petrova traditionally includes a mass, a procession, the lighting of a Koleda bonfire and a folk festival. In 2026, Petrova in Ilovik was scheduled to take place from 28 to 29 June as a celebration in honour of Saints Peter and Paul, the patron saints of the island. A restaurant on Ilovik has been run by the same family for more than 120 years.

Getting there

A daily fast passenger service connects Rijeka with Cres and Martinšćica, as well as with Unije, Susak, Ilovik and Mali Lošinj. Organised transfers reach Ilovik from Mrtvaška Bay in 10 to 15 minutes.
