Nature
Vele Srakane is home to a coastal bentgrass community identified as Agrostetum maritimae. Outside the Srakane Islands, this grassland community is largely unknown.
Loess deposits on Vele Srakane, Male Srakane, Susak and Unije differ from the limestone and dolomite that predominate on the other Kvarner Islands. There is almost no forest on the loess substrates of Vele Srakane, Male Srakane, Susak and Unije.
Culture
There was a prehistoric hillfort at Vela Straža on Vele Srakane. The old castle on Vela Straža is a preserved remnant of a fortification that once served to defend against pirates. A Roman-era gravestone is built into the corner of Skrivanić House on Vele Srakane.
Island
There are no cars on Vele Srakane and Male Srakane. A boat docking from Mali Lošinj in Gornja Trata is recorded.
