The Hrubý z Jelení family castle was built in the 17th century on the site of an earlier fortress.

History

In 1846, the Hrubý family built the Empire-style Chapel of the Holy Cross with a crypt on the outskirts of Červené Pečky. In the Ohrada area, there is a settlement dating from Roman times, with finds including earthenware vessels, animal bones, and traces of a residential building.

Castle Park

The castle park is laid out in the English style and contains rare trees that are over 150 years old. Ornamental plants, especially orchids, were cultivated and propagated in dozens of greenhouses; the collection was considered one of the most famous in Europe.

Religious Buildings

The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is a Gothic church dating from the first quarter of the 14th century and was first mentioned as a parish church in 1352. Its complex includes a disused cemetery with a historic enclosure and a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. The Night of Churches traditionally takes place in this church.

Other religious buildings and works of art include the Boží muka, a column-shaped wayside chapel from 1757; the burial chapel of the family of Baron Josef Hrubý, a late Empire-style building from 1845–1846; the statue of Saint Margaret, a Baroque sculptural work from the first half of the 18th century; and the three-sided niche chapel, a small Baroque religious building from the 18th century. The Chapel of the Virgin Mary was originally a Baroque niche chapel from the 18th century and was rebuilt in 1842; it stands on the southern outskirts of Červené Pečky on the road to Bojiště.

Geographical Location

The stone railway bridge in Červené Pečky spans the valley of the Chotouchovský stream between the Červené Pečky and Ratboř railway stations and dates from 1899–1900. A stone bridge crosses the Nebovidský stream in the northern part of Červené Pečky near Pazderna Pond.

Events

Červenopečecká Pecka is a recurring open-air festival of folk, tramp, and country music in the castle park of Červené Pečky.
