Nature and trails
The Záplavy nature reserve covers areas in the cadastral territory of Kamenné Žehrovice. It is an important breeding area and a significant stopover during migration for waterbirds and wetland birds. During the spring and autumn migrations, kingfishers, great egrets and hoopoes can be observed there.
Kalspot is a protected wetland in the floodplain of the Kačák stream, where several rare amphibian species occur, including fire-bellied toads, water frogs, grass frogs and spadefoot toads.
The Mrákavy educational trail is just over one kilometre long, easy to walk and provides information at eight stops about the various tree species in the local landscape. The Povodí středního Kačáku – Drvotova stezka educational trail runs mostly along well-maintained paths, partly along forest trails, and is marked with the usual green-and-white educational trail markings.
Culture and history
On the road towards Žilina stands a 17th-century farmhouse protected by the state. During the period between the two world wars, Dělnický dům was a centre of social life in Kamenné Žehrovice. The reconstructed Dělnický dům has a modernly equipped gymnasium and a multi-purpose outdoor court.
The local Žehrovák sandstone is said to have been used in the construction of Charles Bridge, St. Vitus Cathedral and the National Theatre.
The Chapel of the Name of the Virgin Mary is a distinctive building on the village square in Kamenné Žehrovice and is suitable for a short stop. It is also a popular venue for civil and church weddings.
Transport
Kamenné Žehrovice has a railway station and two bus stops with direct connections to the surrounding municipalities as well as to Prague, Karlovy Vary, Žatec, Rakovník and Kladno.
