Nature and Trails
The Krásné Vyhlídky nature trail connects Mnichovice with Struhařov and Klokočná. It is 9.2 km long, has an elevation difference of 150 m, and includes nine rest stations equipped with benches. The trail is intended exclusively for pedestrians and is used by hikers, families with children and pushchairs, as well as schoolchildren from Mnichovice for lessons.
The Mnichovická Basin lies in undulating, hilly and forested terrain that extends to the Sázava; the Mnichovka flows southward. Protected grey herons, grass frogs, water frogs and grass snakes occur in the area around Rybník Koloděj. Remains of the dam are still visible at the former Rybník Koloděj pond.
Cycling, Winter Sports and Events
The Do Prahy na kole cycle route begins in Mnichovice and leads via Všestary, Světice and Říčany to Prague-Kolovraty; the route is 14.3 km long. It serves both everyday cycling and recreation and has rest areas and various excursion destinations along the route.
Šibeniční vrch in Mnichovice has a family-friendly ski area with a snow-covered slope suitable for beginners, a ski school, rental facilities, a gentle children's slope with a lift, and a snow carousel.
Mnichovická Běhna is organised by the town of Mnichovice and is a running competition held at the Podhorky sports field on Bezručova Street in Mnichovice.
Culture and History
According to historical sources, Zittův Mlýn was already standing in Mnichovice in 1600. The building is one of the oldest buildings in Mnichovice and is a valuable preserved example of folk architecture and the miller's craft; it was declared a cultural monument on 15 October 1996.
The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Mnichovice is a Baroque church. It was rebuilt after the fire of 1746 and consecrated on 8 September 1754.
The organisers of the Mnichovický hudební festival aim to offer classical and unconventional music at several venues in Mnichovice, including both local churches, the primary school and a retirement home.
