Stochov between Tradition and Culture

According to local tradition, Prince Saint Wenceslas was born in Stochov in 903. Also according to local tradition, Saint Ludmila planted the Svatováclavský dub on the day of Wenceslas’s birth. The traditions surrounding Prince Saint Wenceslas and Saint Ludmila are among Stochov’s historical connections.

Church, Museum and Chapel

The Kostel sv. Václava church in Stochov is originally Gothic and dates from the 14th century. The Stochov Museum is located at Náměstí U dubu 30 in Stochov. The Stochovská kaplička is located in Konopas on the road from Nové Strašecí to Stochov and was built in 1856 by the Kurzveilovi couple as a chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary. This provides a historic place of worship, a museum and a chapel with its own architectural history as options for a cultural stay.
