The Bystřice European protected area (CZ0523264) runs through the municipality of Sovětice. The priority species listed for this protected area is the thick-shelled river mussel. The Bystřice natural monument (PP Bystřice) is also located in the eastern part of the cadastral area. Protected landscape features in the Sovětice area include forests, watercourses, ponds and floodplain meadows.

History and Culture

The first written mention of Sovětice dates from 1369. Pottery fragments from urns dating from the 6th to 9th centuries AD were found in Sovětice. Skalka hill probably served as a rear support position for the Prussian artillery.

The monument to those who fell in the First World War depicts a woman with a bouquet of flowers and a military helmet; plaques on the pedestal list the names of the fallen. The Church of Saint George is located in the wider regional surroundings of Sovětice.
