Landscape

Mount Maxinec (MLázovický chlum) is located in the vicinity of Bříšťany. The surrounding area also includes the hill “(Na Rybníku) [Bašnice]”, Pařez Hill [Sukorady u Hořic], and Švehlův vrch Hill [Dobrá Voda u Hořic-Horní Dobrá Voda].

History and Townscape

A Neolithic settlement existed in the area of Bříšťany. A preserved fragment of an aqueduct survives southwest of Bříšťany. Bříšťany is home to the private motorcycle museum “Motoveterán Muzeum u Horáků”.

A statue of the Holy Trinity dating from 1874 stands on the village green in Bříšťany. The village also has a statue of Saint Wenceslas dating from 1762, which was restored in 1858. There is also a memorial to the victims of both world wars. A sandstone cross dating from 1865 stands in the Bříšťany cemetery.
