Mlázovice: Hotels and Accommodation
Mlázovice lies on the western edge of the Podzvičinsko Basin, on the ridges of Chlumy, Mlázovický Chlum and Hořický Chlum.
Landscape and Trails
Mezihoří, a district of the market town of Mlázovice, is surrounded by deep forests crossed by the Javorka River. Several hiking trails pass through Mezihoří, which is visited by hikers and cyclists. In the surroundings of Mlázovice, there were once twelve ferruginous springs and peat deposits associated with the town’s former spa tradition.
The blue-marked hiking trail begins in Mlázovice, leads to Záduší, crosses the red ridge trail near Maxinec Mountain and continues to Ostroměř railway station.
History and Culture
The Church of the Most Holy Trinity is a filial church and was formerly a parish church. As a state-listed monument, it was rebuilt in 1725 on the site of a wooden church first mentioned as early as 1360. The church’s largest bell was cast in 1593, and its clock comes from the dissolved Pavlánů Monastery in Nová Paka.
Mlázovice’s square has a regular rectangular layout dating from 1540. At that time, Mlázovice was granted market-town status, along with the right to hold annual fairs and a coat of arms. A Marian column from the Hořice School of Sculpture was erected in the centre of the square in 1901; in 1928, an obelisk commemorating the victims of the First World War was added.
Many houses in Mlázovice have information boards providing details about the town’s history and the individual houses. Mlázovice and Šárovcova Lhota are also associated with a memorial stone dating from 1817, which has been protected as a cultural monument since 15 August 2020.
The Mlázovice peat spa operated under constant medical supervision from 1898 onwards. It was closed in 1953 as part of the reorganisation of the healthcare system; its spa buildings, including the hotel and guesthouse, subsequently served as the basis for a social care facility for older people.
