Mladějov: Hotels and Accommodation
Culture and History
The Church of Saint Giles in Mladějov dates back to the 14th century and features Baroque alterations. On the south wall of the vestibule, there is a restored memorial to those who fell in the First World War; access to this memorial is unrestricted.
The historic heritage also includes the Mladějov bell tower from 1793 and the preserved bell in the tower. It bears depictions of Saint Wenceslas and Saint John of Nepomuk. The church's baptismal font is protected as a cultural monument, as are two statues from the side grilles of the main altar. Mladějov is also home to a sandstone crucifix by regional sculptor Josef Zeman.
Regular church services are held in the Church of Saint Giles. Twice a year, soprano Karolína Žmolíková gives concerts there. The Husův sbor in Mladějov was opened on 21 August 1938.
The pseudo-Baroque Mladějov Chateau is also part of the local landscape. After a fire in 2002, it was carefully restored; it is currently used for commercial purposes.
Nature and Landscape
The Mladějovsko landscape area, administered by the municipality of Mladějov, lies on the southern or southeastern edge of the Český ráj Protected Landscape Area and the Podtrosecká údolí Nature Reserve. Near the church lies Mladějovská rokle, a protected natural monument with impressive sandstone formations.
The valley is now part of the popular Mladějov–Trosky cycling and hiking route. At Doly Pond, next to the dam, a statue stands in a niche carved into the rocks; according to tradition, it is said to depict Saint John of Nepomuk.
From Mladějov-Pařízek, there are views of Trosky, Kozákov, the Krkonoše Mountains and Ještěd.
