In Prachov, the Prachov Rocks are a classic sandstone area with climbing routes of all difficulty levels. Among the rock towers, some rise up to 40 m high.
Landscape and trails
The Prachov Rocks feature well-maintained, marked tourist loop trails. The panoramic loop trails are located in Zone I of the Český ráj Protected Landscape Area. There is also the Pelíškova dětská naučná stezka educational trail for children: it is about 1 km long, takes approximately 90 minutes, and is also suitable for prams.
Getting there and access
The Prachov Rocks are easily accessible by car or bus. The central car park is located by the Turistická chata, right at the entrance to the rocks. From the car park in the municipality of Prachov, access leads along the path to the ticket office; the blue-marked route suitable for prams begins there.
Culture and events
The Císařská chodba gorge is located in the Prachov Rocks and was named in honour of Emperor Francis I. He passed through it during his visit on 9 June 1813.
The garden of the Muzeum přírody Český ráj is a botanical mini-garden with woody plants and herbs from Český ráj, as well as habitats for wild animals, enclosures, and outdoor terrariums. The Muzeum přírody Český ráj organizes the Žabí běh every year. The Maraton Českým rájem is also a recurring race; the 2026 edition is scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m. on 9 August at the Lepařův památník and finish at the Muzeum přírody Český ráj in Prachov.
